Alice Busch Opera Theater. Photo: Abby RoddMuch of our season is based in literature and/or visual art – Carmen is based upon Prosper Mérimée’s novella and our world premiere A Blizzard in Marblehead Neck is based upon an episode in playwright Eugene O’Neill’s life. I am an avid reader – particularly when preparing for an upcoming production – and with the holidays fast approaching, I thought it might be appropriate to provide a winter book list for our readers and audience members. Not only will these books help you become more familiar with our upcoming 2011 Festival, but they would make excellent holiday gifts as well.
