GLIMMERGLASS OPERA APPOINTS MANAGING DIRECTOR

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Glimmerglass Opera has appointed Linda Jackson as Managing Director.

As Managing Director, Jackson will oversee Glimmerglass Opera’s administration, serving as an onsite liaison to new General & Artistic Director Francesca Zambello, who will succeed Michael MacLeod this September.

Jackson has more than 25 years of experience working in the performing arts, 20 of which have been in the field of opera. Prior to joining Glimmerglass Opera, she spent approximately seven years as Connecticut Opera’s Managing Director. She has served as General Director for both Berkshire Opera Company and Chautauqua Opera. From 1998 to 2001, she served as the Executive Director for artist and stage director Robert Wilson’s Byrd Hoffman Foundation. She has also served as General Manager for 651 ARTS with the Brooklyn Academy of Music. She has experience both in the administration as well as production aspects of performing arts companies, having also worked as a production coordinator, production stage manager and production manager for such companies as Houston Grand Opera, Greater Miami Opera, Texas Opera Theater and New York City Opera National Company.

“Linda Jackson is a talented and experienced opera administrator with whom I have enjoyed working over the course of our respective careers,” Zambello said. “We are both excited about our future collaboration for the Glimmerglass Festival and the opportunities for broadening the repertory and attracting new audiences.”

Jackson has already begun work for the festival, but will assume full-time residence in Cooperstown this summer.
