$20 Tickets to Glimmerglass Festival Available for Otsego County Residents

Cooperstown, N.Y. (June 14, 2012) – The Glimmerglass Festival, the summer opera and musical theater company in Cooperstown, has announced two Otsego County Resident Days.  County residents who have never attended a Glimmerglass production are eligible to receive $20 tickets to performances of Verdi’s Aida on Saturday, July 7, or Friday, July 13 and The Music Man on July 20.  This offer is also available to county residents who have not been to Glimmerglass in the past four years.

Otsego County Resident Days aim to make opera and musical theater more accessible to the local community with the help of a special grant from the Clark Foundation.

Glimmerglass is an internationally recognized summer opera and musical theater festival that presents four productions in rotation every July and August.  In addition to Verdi’s Aida and Meredith Willson's The Music Man, the 2012 season features productions of Lully’s Armide and Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson’s Lost in the Stars.

Residents of Otsego County who are interested in $20 tickets and have never attended a Glimmerglass production, or have not attended one since 2008, should call the Glimmerglass Box Office at (607) 547-2255 and mention this offer.  This offer does not apply to previously purchased tickets, is available on a first-come, first-served basis and may require proof of residency. This offer applies to tickets in price levels III and IV. All other tickets and performances start at just $10 for youths (ages 6-18 when accompanied by adult) and $26 for adults.

The 2012 Festival runs July 7 through August 25, with both evening and matinee performances.  The Alice Busch Opera Theater is located at 7300 State Highway 80 in Cooperstown, New York.  Visit www.glimmerglass.org for details.
