Preview of the Met’s Live in HD La Forza del Destino

Abby Kreh Gibson will do a brief Zoom overview of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Forza del Destino – the force or power of destiny – on Wednesday, March 6 at 5:30 PM.  Verdi called it “an opera of vast dimensions”. He also called it “an opera of ideas” and filled it with a wide range of characters and emotions.  It is the Metropolitan Opera’s first new production of this opera in nearly 30 years and stars the Norwegian soprano, Lise Davidsen.

The HD Broadcast can be seen locally at the Foothills Performing Arts & Civic Center, 24 Market Street, Oneonta, and at Munson in Utica at noon on March 9, 2024.

"Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness and life to everything. It is the essence of order and leads to all that is good, just and beautiful, of which it is the invisible, but nevertheless dazzling, passionate and eternal form."
