Consider a Glimmerglass Festival Administration Internship for a wonderful learning experience in the world of opera and musical theater.
Box Office5 positions. Mid May - Aug. 24. Assist with ticket sales, patron services, and preparation of income reports. Interns will also help with VIP requests and coordinating group activities. Requires organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as computer literacy. Customer service skills are desirable.
Development3 positions. Early May - late Aug. Assist with administration and execution of summer fundraising programs and events, including: prospect research, analysis of prospective donors and the subsequent one-on-one engagement of selected patrons. Provide assistance to VIP patrons with tickets and trip logistics; help with general development administration and long-range projects, such as the annual fund campaign and grant preparation. Successful interns will be energetic, fast-working, computer literate and have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a good sense of humor. Graphic design, publishing/editing experience a plus but not required.
Housing and Transportation3 positions. Early May - late Aug. Assist department responsible for the housing, transportation, and other practical concerns of singers, directors, designers and general personnel. Must be able to deal positively and tactfully with a variety of logistical arrangements. Must be computer literate, team-oriented, flexible and energetic. Driver's license with clean driving record required.
Information Technology 1 position. May - Late Aug. The IT Intern will help install, update and support Windows/Apple software and hardware; function as Help Desk support, respond to end-user requests via phone, in person and electronically; track changes and support calls; map network drives and printers, monitor systems and network status; run preventative maintenance. Knowledge of MS Office 2010, as well as Windows and Mac OS are desirable. Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs. There is occasional local travel between remote offices and properties, driver’s license required.
Marketing1 position. May 19 - August 24. Assist the Marketing Director with preparation and distribution of gift shop merchandise, season promotions, research and analysis of ticket sales data. Help manage and staff the gift shop at all performances. Must have a close attention to detail, congenial public manner and computer skills in Microsoft Office programs. Adobe Creative Suite and Quickbooks POS experience helpful, but not required. Applicants unavailable for the full duration of the internship will not be considered.
Public Relations1 position. May 26 - August 24. Assist with preparation and distribution of press materials; work with members of the media and the general public; assist in maintaining social media networks. Help staff the audience services/press desk at all performances. Must have excellent writing and proofreading skills with attention to detail, congenial public manner and basic computer skills in Microsoft Office programs. Driver’s license with clean record required.
Operations1 position. May 19 - August 24. Assist the Director of Administration and Operations in the daily tasks required to facilitate the general operations of largescale summer festival. Must have good communication and organizational skills, as well as independent workethic; driver’s license with clean record required.
Patron Services 2 positions. June 29 - August 24. Assist in welcoming patrons at all entrance points of the Festival, including the audience services desk, the marketplace and in the theater. Students of theater with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in customer service and Microsoft Office applications a plus.
