The Siege of Calais

July 16 - August 19, 2017

Gaetano Donizetti/Salvatore Cammarano

The story of courage and self-sacrifice in the year-long Siege of Calais during the Hundred Years’ War inspired artists from Donizetti to Rodin. Our new production of this rarely-heard Italian bel canto work examines concepts of homeland and heroism in a region that continues to be a backdrop for conflict.

Presented in Italian with projected English text.

This production is generously sponsored by Elizabeth M. and Jean-Marie R. Eveillard.
