GLIMMERGLASS WELCOMES NEW VOLUNTEERS

The Glimmerglass Festival could not hold its world-renowned summer season each year if not for its volunteers. There are many ways you can assist, whether year-round or seasonally, nearby or across the country.

For further volunteer opportunities, consider joining the Glimmerglass Festival Guild.

BECOME A GLIMMERGLASS USHER

The Glimmerglass Festival relies on its many volunteers to serve as ambassadors of the company by ushering at performances during the summer. Glimmerglass ushers take tickets, assist in seating audience members, distribute programs, and, most importantly, welcome our audience members with smiling faces.

VOLUNTEER USHERS GET SOME AMAZING BENEFITS:

  • Experience professional theater.
  • Choose the performances YOU want to usher for.
  • Join a community of 100+ volunteers.
  • Learn new skills and share your skills with others.

If you are interested in volunteering as an usher, please send us an email at housemanager@glimmerglass.org for more information. We always welcome new faces, so if you know of anyone who may be interested in being a volunteer usher, please have them be in touch as well.

BASIC POLICIES FOR USHERING AT GLIMMERGLASS:

  • Each usher is expected to arrive one hour and 15 minutes before curtain time for sign in, a brush-up orientation and preparation.
  • Each usher is expected to remain on duty until the end of the performance.
  • Dress for ushers consists of a white shirt or blouse and black trousers or skirt. Formal designs are more appropriate than sporty ones. Remember, the house is not climate controlled, so be prepared for inclement weather. Sweaters and vests should also be black or white.

Ushers must be at least 18 years old.
