This retelling of The Jungle Book offers a fresh look at the story of Mowgli, an endangered human cub who seeks refuge from dangers of the jungle with a pack of wolves.
The Youth Opera program was initiated by Artistic & General Director Francesca Zambello as part of her mission to involve regional youth in both attending and performing in opera. The Glimmerglass Festival has presented a youth opera every summer since 2015, when we presented the world premiere of Ben Moore and Kelley Rourke’s “Odyssey,” which was revived in 2018. The youth opera cast consists of performers from elementary school-age through high school who perform alongside members of the Young Artists Program. All the youth are selected through a competitive audition process, and they participate in rehearsals and performances equal to a professional schedule.
