The Jungle Book, by Kamala Sankaram and Kelley Rourke, is the fourth opera the Festival has commissioned for the Glimmerglass Youth Chorus. There are many works that have been written for adults to perform for children, but very few that put young people center stage. With these youth opera commissions, Glimmerglass is creating a repertory that gives opera companies across the country a new way to engage with the young people in their communities.
This opera was set to premiere this summer at the Festival. In this Glimpse, you will experience the premiere showing of one of the arias from this new opera, followed by commentary and educational information on Indian classical music and dance.
Join us here, on YouTube, or Facebook, on July 23 at 5:30 p.m. EDT for the release!
