We had visitors from New York City Opera last week. Members of the company’s props department joined us in Cooperstown for the day to gather materials for NYCO’s upcoming production of Partenope, set to open April 3.
The set of Partenope, originally a co-production with Glimmerglass Opera that premiered in 1998, features several trees — both faux and real. Karin, NYCO Properties Director, and Scott, Assistant Props Coordinator, met with our staff to select the weed trees in Glimmerglass Opera’s backyard that would appear in Partenope.
